Mandatory minimum laws and similar ones that rule out judges' discretion are the highest outrage. Is firing the social worker supposedly in the interest of the public? Or is it a public relations move? The people in this nation chose to put up with leaders who believe that the entire pot of gold should only go to those at the top. Continuous cuts in social services programs have caused countless disasters since the 1980s. Organizations are under-funded, understaffed and cannot meet the needs of the nation. That is the reality behind our fantasy that we can fund endless war and tax cuts for the rich. The circumstances of this tragedy have been set up for decades. Holocaust denial is obviously a conscious attempt to deceive for hateful purposes. People with mental illness, hate and ideology network with others and try to think of propaganda that will become effective racist mythology. It may be simple to repeat proven facts but the basics should be loudly called out by as many people as possible: the holocaust did happen; millions of jews were murdered; large-scale murders of gays also occurred; 'gypsies,' people with disabilities, and several other communities also saw shocking levels of killing.
When sick people like von Brunn write their delusions in public, there should be a tidal wave of a response that exposes their nonsense for what it is. I love the Daily Show. It reflects what many people think but without the opportunity to communicate to the world. You are very justified to be pissed off at Obama. He is essentially saying screw his support base. He needs to be pressured to stay off the Bill Clinton road to failure. That's why the craziest ideas of the Newt crowd and Disneyesque Reagan worshippers became law under Clinton. Under Clinton, DOMA, welfare 'reform' (except corporate welfare of course), the ban on needle exchange funding, continued outlawing of medicinal marijuana, and much more, passed. When these kinds of laws passed under Bush, millions of us screamed (justifiably).
